Fresh from taking second place at the local food business competition at Healthy Living Market and Café, Vermont Tortilla Company needed to find the right space to grow their emerging business. They have found their match at the Vermont Artisan Village in Shelburne and we are thrilled to have them as the first tenant at the new site! Vermont Tortilla Company will showcase their technique and product in a built-to-suit production and retail hub among fellow local food and agriculture producers.
A Traditional Process, Vermont Style
Vermont Tortilla Company founders, April and Azur Moulaert, have always had a passion for food that is produced in a sustainable manner. The Moulaerts are excited about being in the company of other small food producers as part of the Vermont Artisan Village community.
Their artisanal tortillas are produced with local organic non-GMO corn. Vermont Tortilla Company is one of only a handful of places in the US that make corn tortillas the traditional way, using an ancient process called nixtimalization.
